Updated October 2026

A standard adult ticket to Bran Castle costs 100 lei in 2026 (about €20), and the castle opens at 9:00 every day except Monday, when it opens at noon. Those are the figures on the castle’s own website, bran-castle.com, read on 26 October 2026. Children aged 5 to 17 pay 40 lei, students with a card 60 lei, seniors over 65 pay 70 lei, and children under 5 go in free.

The rest of this page is the detail that catches people out: the add-on rooms that cost extra, the week around Halloween when ordinary tickets are not sold at all, and the Peles Castle closures that change what a Bucharest day trip can include in November 2026.

Prices from bran-castle.com, read 26 October 2026. They include VAT. Children under 5 and visitors with disabilities enter free; school groups of 20 or more pay 30 lei each.

The Standard Tour is the castle itself: the courtyard, the rooms Queen Marie furnished in the 1920s, the narrow stairs and the views over the Bran pass. The Time Tunnel and the Torture Rooms are separate exhibits with their own 30 lei tickets. The Fast Pass tickets add a separate priority lane up to the entrance, which matters on a summer Saturday and hardly at all on a weekday in winter.

Two small traps in the castle’s own pages. The ticket cards show the Standard Ticket “from 40 RON”, which is the child price, not the adult one; the adult price is 100 lei. And the restaurant at the foot of the castle needs no ticket at all: it is open 09:00 to 20:00 from Tuesday to Sunday and 12:00 to 20:00 on Mondays.

From bran-castle.com, read 26 October 2026. The closing time is the last entry.

Monday is the day to plan around. The castle does not open until noon, and a day trip that leaves Bucharest at 7:00 or 8:00 arrives well before that. Most Monday departures simply reorder the day, but if you are going on your own, do Brasov in the morning and Bran in the afternoon.

The castle also posts one-off changes on the same page. On 7 November 2026 the last entry is 15:00 because of a private event. It lists no regular closing days, so check the page the week you travel, particularly around Christmas and New Year.

Do you need to buy Bran Castle tickets in advance?

Usually not, except in the Halloween week and on busy summer weekends. The castle sells daily tickets online and at the gate, and on an ordinary weekday the queue at the ticket office is the short part of the visit. The long part is inside: the castle is a tall, narrow building with one-way stairs, and on a busy day you move at the speed of the group in front.

The exception is the last week of October. From 24 October to 1 November only Halloween tickets are sold, and those are online, priced by the event, and limited in number. In 2026 the daytime “New Moon” tour from 24 to 30 October starts at 100 lei, the Halloween Day tour on 31 October at 300 lei, and the adults-only Blood Moon party that night at 800 lei. The Halloween guide has the full list.

Are castle tickets included in a Bran Castle tour?

On most day trips from Bucharest, no. The tour price covers the minibus or coach, the driver and a guide, and you pay the castle entrances on the day, either to the guide or at the ticket office. Read the “not included” line of each listing before you compare prices: a cheap tour plus three castle tickets can cost more than a dearer one that includes them.

On a Bucharest day that takes in Bran and Peles, the gate tickets alone add up to about 200 lei (about €40) for an adult: 100 lei at Bran and 100 lei at Peles. Add Cantacuzino Castle in Busteni and it is 265 to 285 lei. That is the number to add to the tour price when you compare. The current tours and what each one includes are on the homepage comparison.

The one product sold as a plain ticket on GetYourGuide, a Peles-or-Bran entry ticket, has a weaker rating than the guided day trips, and buying direct from the castle costs less. If all you want is the ticket, buy it from the castle.

Peles Castle: closed Monday and Tuesday, and for November 2026

If your day trip is the classic Bran, Peles and Brasov combination, the Peles half has stricter rules than Bran:

  • Peles is closed every Monday and Tuesday. It opens Wednesday from 10:00 and Thursday to Sunday from 09:15, until 17:00, with the last entry at 16:00 (peles.ro, read 26 October 2026). A tour that runs on a Monday or Tuesday either skips Peles or sees it from the outside.
  • Peles is closed from 2 November to 1 December 2026 for cleaning and conservation, and the smaller Pelisor Castle beside it is closed from 28 September to 3 November 2026.
  • Peles tickets cost 100 lei for an adult, 50 lei for pensioners and 25 lei for pupils and students; Pelisor is 30 lei. There is no extra charge for the guided tour in English, which forms at the entrance on the hour or so.

So for a day trip in November 2026, the Peles stop becomes the outside of Peles and its gardens; several listings offer Pelisor instead, which reopens on 4 November, and the top-rated Bucharest day adds Cantacuzino Castle anyway. That is not a reason to skip the trip, because Bran and Brasov are the main event, but it is a reason to read the itinerary before you book. The Peles, Bran and Brasov guide shows how the day changes.

How long do you need at Bran Castle?

About an hour inside, and an hour and a half with the village below it. The castle is not large, but the route through it is one way and narrow, so a crowded day adds time. Guided day trips usually allow 1 to 1.5 hours at Bran, which is enough for the rooms, the courtyard and a look at the souvenir market at the gate. If you want the Time Tunnel and the Torture Rooms as well, ask your guide for the longer slot or go on your own.

How these facts were checked

Bran Castle prices, add-ons, opening hours, the Monday noon opening, the 7 November early closing and the Halloween ticket rule come from bran-castle.com (the plan-your-visit and tickets pages), read 26 October 2026. Peles and Pelisor hours, prices and the 2026 closures come from peles.ro, read the same day. Cantacuzino Castle prices and hours come from cantacuzinocastle.com; Rasnov Citadel hours and the rehabilitation notice from cetatea-rasnov.ro. Euro figures are rounded conversions at about 5 lei to the euro. Castles change prices between seasons, so check the official pages before you travel.
